NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Bradford out, Gronkowski probable 9/24/17

Week 3 Injury Report

Which Injuries will keep NFL teams from being at full strength for Week 3? Here’s a look at the latest news on the big injuries.

The biggest injury for Sunday comes for the Minnesota Vikings once again, as quarterback Sam Bradford is out for today’s contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1PM ET. Bradford was able to practice some this week after missing last week’s game, but his knee injury isn’t stable enough for him to play. Minnesota will turn to Case Keenum will get the start. Bradford had a great opener, throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns on 27 of 32 passing against the Saints. Keenum wasn’t able to follow that performance against the Steelers. He went 20 of 37 passing for just 167 yards while the Vikings were held to 237 total yards in a 26-9 loss. After opening as a 2.5-point favorite this week, the Vikings are now listed as a 2.5-point underdog against the Bucs at home.

Another big injury this week is to someone accustomed to being on the injury report. Rob Gronkowski is battling a groin injury that he suffered during last week’s win over the Saints. Despite things looking bad last weekend, Gronkowski has practiced on a limited basis this week and he told reports he’s good to go for the New England Patriots against the Houston Texans today at 1PM ET. Given injuries to Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola, having Gronk on the field is key for the Pats. He caught six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown last week in the win. He has just two catches for 33 yards in the Week-1 loss to the Chiefs. Oddsmakers have the Patriots listed as a 14-point favorite at home against the Texans today.

Another injury to keep an eye on is with the Miami Dolphins, as running back Jay Ajayi is battling a knee injury that kept him from practicing much this week. After missing most of the week, Ajayi was a full practice participant on Friday, increasing the optimism that he will suit up against the New York Jets today at 1PM ET. Ajayi had a great opener last week for the Dolphins, rushing for 122 yards on 28 carries. His effort against the Chargers allowed Jay Cutler to settle in as the new starting quarterback. Ajayi is coming off a 1,272-yard season in 2016. Oddsmakers have listed Miami as a 6-point favorite on the road against the Jets.
