NFL Week 3 Opening Line Report
The opening lines are out for Week 3 in the NFL. How do oddsmakers view the biggest matchups of the week?
Thursday, September 21, 8:25PM ET
NFC West rivals meet in Santa Clara on Thursday night when the 49ers host the Rams. According to oddsmakers, the Niners opened as 2.5-point home underdogs and that’s where the line currently sits. The total, however, has moved. After hitting the board at 42 points, the line is down to 40.5.
Sunday, September 24
Falcons at Lions, 1:00PM ET
Depending on what the Lions do on Monday night versus the Giants, this could be a matchup of 2-0 teams. Atlanta won a big one on Sunday night against the Packers, but it came at a cost for the Falcons. 2016 sack leader Vic Beasely tore his hamstring and will miss at least a month, plus starting right tackle Ryan Schrader suffered a concussion in the first quarter in the team’s win over the Packers. As of this writing, there is no line for this matchup.
Texans at Patriots, 1:00PM ET
New England got back on track in Week 2 with a blowout victory in New Orleans. Houston also improved to 1-1 with a win over the Bengals in Cincinnati last Thursday. Deshaun Watson is expected to start again for Houston after making his first pro start last week. Even though Houston received extra rest, oddsmakers are spotting the Texans 13 points for Sunday’s game in Foxborough.

Seahawks at Titans, 4:05PM ET
This one has already seen significant line movement. Seattle opened as a 2.5-point road favorite but the line jumped the fence and now Tennessee is a 2.5-point home favorite. The Seahawks have been horrendous offensively through two weeks, as Russell Wilson has been limited behind a poor offensive line. The total for this matchup sits at 43 points after hitting the board at 44.
Chiefs at Chargers, 4:25PM ET
AFC West rivals clash in Carson this Sunday when the Chargers host the 2-0 Chiefs. If the Bolts can’t produce a win, they will have dug themselves a massive hole in the ultra-competitive AFC West. Kansas City, which has looked like of one of the best teams in the AFC through two weeks, is a 3-point road favorite. The total sits at 46 points.
Raiders at Redskins, 8:30PM ET
Oakland has looked like one of the best teams in the AFC the first two weeks of the season and it has a good chance to improve to 3-0 with a win over the 1-1 Redskins on Sunday night. Washington is a 3-point underdog after opening as a 2.5-point dog.
Monday, September 25
Cowboys at Cardinals, 8:30PM ET
After they were pummeled by the Broncos in Denver last week, the Cowboys will attempt to get back on track this Monday when they visit the Cardinals. Arizona, which barely escaped Indianapolis with a victory over the lowly Colts, is a 3-point home underdog for the Week 3 MNF matchup. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47 points.
