NFL Week 3 Predictions: Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints 9/26/16

Falcons vs. Saints Prediction

Are the Saints the best play on the board in tonight’s Monday Night Football clash between New Orleans and the Falcons at 8:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Saints are 2.5-point home favorites versus the Falcons while the over/under currently sits at 53.5 points. While the total has stayed put, the point spread has dropped a half-point, with New Orleans going from -3 down to -2.5.

Bet Tonight’s Falcons vs. Saints Matchup

The Falcons have been a good play on Monday night recently, going 4-1 against the spread in their last five MNF games. But they’re 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, are 3-11 against the number in their last 14 games overall, and are just 1-7 at the betting window in their last eight games versus NFC South opponents.

As for the Saints, they’re 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games overall, are 5-0 against the number in their last five games versus divisional foes and are 4-1 ATS in their last five games coming off a loss. That said, they’re just 4-9-1 at the betting window in their last 14 games in the Superdome.

OUR PREDICTION: Everyone expects a high-scoring game – including oddsmakers. That’s why the total is set at 53.5, as bookmakers and bettors alike believe both teams could reach the 30s on offense. But the best play is backing New Orleans as a small home favorite. Drew Brees isn’t going to allow the Saints to fall to 0-3, not on his home turf and against a team that New Orleans has owned of late (the Saints have won the last two meetings, eight of the last 11, and 15 of 20 since 2006). Keep in mind that while New Orleans is 0-2, the Saints lost by one point to the Raiders in Week 1 and by three points to the Giants in Week 2. They’re a bounce or two away from being 2-0 instead of winless. The Falcons don’t have a pass rush, so look for Brees to throw for 300-plus yards and multiple touchdowns while leading the Saints to their first victory in 2016.
