The over/under total for the contest is listed at 42 points. The home team has won five straight in this series, and the Chiefs are 5-1 against the spread in their last six against the Jets.
After suffering a 23-22 loss to the Bengals at home to open the season, the Jets got in the win column last week with a 37-31 win at Buffalo. New York is now 1-1 against the spread and been relying on its offense thus far in 2016. New York is putting up an impressive 419 yards per game on offense right now. Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown for 563 yards and three touchdowns in two games while Matt Forte has rushed for 196 yards and three scores for his new team. Usually known for defense, the Jets are giving up 408 yards per game right now, including 336.5 passing yards per contest.
The Chiefs had a 33-27 OT win over the Chargers to open the season but suffered a 19-12 loss at Houston last week. KC has yet to cover in either game. Like New York, the Chiefs anticipated another strong defensive year, but are giving up 381.5 yards per game right now, including 126 rushing yards per game. The offense was hoping to get a boost this week by having Jamaal Charles return from a torn ACL, but he is now listed as doubtful to play. Alex Smith has thrown for 549 yards and two touchdowns to lead the offense, but the team is relying a bit too much on his arm thus far.

Though the Jets are just 1-1, they look like a real playoff contender. The offense is really clicking and the defense should turn around as the season moves on. KC is usually a tough team, but their first two performances have been lacking. Without Charles, the offense seems too easy to defend. Look for the New York offense to continue to move the ball effectively and pick up a nice road win against the Chiefs.
