Steelers vs. Eagles Prediction
Can the Philadelphia Eagles stay hot on offense under Carson Wentz, or will the Pittsburgh Steelers slow down the rookie today 4:25PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Steelers are favored on the road Sunday, as they are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Eagles. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 47 points. The home team has won six of the last seven in this series and these two have hit the under in three straight meetings.
The Eagles are riding high behind a 2-0 start and a pair of 29-point performances from Wentz and the Eagles offense. They have split the total through two games, but that is more due to the defense. Philly is giving up just 12 points and 304.5 yards per game on defense. However, the Eagles have only faced the Browns and Bears to open the season. Things could be tougher this week against the Steelers, on both sides of the ball. Still, Wentz has been a good manager, throwing for 468 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
The Steelers are also 2-0 on the season and have also split the total in two games. However, they have won at Washington and beaten the Bengals at home, two playoff teams from 2015. Pittsburgh is averaging 31 points and 415 yards per game on offense while the defense is giving up just under 400 yards per game, including 347.5 passing yards per game. DeAngelo Williams has been the big spark on offense in place of the suspended Le’Veon Bell. Williams has rushed for 237 yards and two touchdowns thus far while Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 559 yards and six touchdowns. The defense has to be a little bit of a concern, but part of the big numbers allowed is because the Steelers have been leading a lot and opponents try to catch up through the air.

Pittsburgh is going to move the ball in all likelihood. I like what the Eagles are doing on defense so far, but they are facing a major upgrade in talent this week. Wentz should have opportunities to make plays as well, but the Steelers still come up with some big plays when needed. Wentz has had the luxury of being ahead most of his two games. It will be interesting to see how he plays if his team falls behind. Either way, I like the over in this game. Both teams have been able to move the ball. The Eagles should be able to score some points on this defense while Pittsburgh does its usual thing.
