Chargers vs. Colts Prediction
Will the Indianapolis Colts be able to put up some big offensive numbers at home when they host the San Diego Chargers this Sunday at 4:25PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Colts are the favorite at home, as Indy is getting odds of -1 point against the Chargers. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 51 points. The Chargers have won and covered in three straight against the Colts.
The Colts are in need of something positive after starting the year 0-2 overall and against the spread following losses to the Lions at home and the Broncos on the road. While Indy has been able to put up some offense, averaging 27.5 points and 373.5 yards per game right now, the defense is really struggling. The Colts are giving up 36.5 points and 428 yards per game on defense, including 303 passing yards per game. Those numbers may not improve either, as the Colts are dealing with a number of injuries in the secondary.
San Diego bounced back from an OT loss to the Chiefs in Week 1 by beating the Jaguars 38-14 at home. However, San Diego lost Danny Woodhead for the season in the win, which is compounded by the loss of Keenan Allen for the year in Week 1. Still, the Chargers will move along behind Philip Rivers, who has thrown for 463 yards and five touchdowns. The run game has been solid through two weeks, producing 305 yards, but Woodhead accounted for 116. Melvin Gordon will have to step up in his absence. Gordon has 159 yards and three scores in two games.

This game seems like it should have plenty of offense, but there is something about the Colts that seems off. They are lacking that swagger they had from two years ago and look to be pressing. The Chargers will stay poised even without Allen or Woodhead, thanks to Rivers. Rivers should be able to pick apart this banged-up Indy defense and lead the Chargers to a big road win.
