CAROLINA: The Panthers are now 1-2 on the year both straight up and against the spread after failing to cover as a 6-point favorite last Sunday in a 22-10 loss to the Vikings. Cam Newton was sacked eight times in the loss and threw three interceptions. Without Jonathan Stewart, Carolina’s usually outstanding running game was pedestrian and No. 1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin wasn’t even targeted in the loss.

ATLANTA: The Falcons improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 against the sprad after covering once again on the road on Monday night in New Orleans. After beating the Raiders 35-28 as a 4-point underdog in Week 2, Atlanta beat the Saints 45-32 in a wild game on MNF as a 2.5-point road dog. Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman stole the show, as Freeman rushed 14 times for 152 yards while catching five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Coleman added 12 rushes for 42 yards and three scores while catching three passes for 47 additional yards.

OUR PICK: The Falcons scored on six consecutive possessions in their victory over the Saints, but New Orleans has one of, if not the worst defense in the NFL this season. Atlanta won’t find the same rushing lanes this week as it did in New Orleans as Carolina continues to boast an outstanding front seven. The under is a perfect 6-0 in the last six meetings between these two teams and 4-1-1 in the last six meetings in Atlanta.
