NFL Week 4 Predictions: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets 10/1/17

Jaguars vs. Jets Prediction

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars handle being a road favorite when they take on the New York Jets today at 1PM ET in Week 4 action?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Jaguars are the slight favorite on the road, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Jets. The over/under total for the game has been set at just 38.5 points. The Jets have won three straight meetings with Jacksonville, but the Jaguars are 6-3 against the spread in the last nine meetings. Today’s game takes place from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and will air live on CBS.

The Jets are 1-2 to start the season following a 20-6 win at home over the Dolphins last week. New York is just 1-2 against the spread, covering as a home underdog last week. The Jets are averaging just 17.3 points and 289.7 yards per game on offense this season. Leading rusher Matt Forte will be out today as well, as he suffered a toe injury last week. Josh McCown has thrown for 602 yards and three touchdowns this year, but also has two interceptions. On defense, the Jets are allowing 24 points and 358 yards per game. Their run defense is giving up 133 yards per game.

The Jaguars are 2-1 on the season following an impressive 44-7 win over the Ravens in Baltimore last week. Jacksonville is 2-1 against the spread this season, but has yet to be a favorite this year. The Jacksonville defense is allowing just 17 points and 283 yards per game on the season, with the pass defense giving up just 147.7 yards per contest. The unit also has 13 sacks and eight turnovers through three games. Calais Campbell has 4.5 sacks to lead the team. Offensively, The Jags are averaging 29.7 points and 337.3 yards per game. Their run game has been the strength behind 199 yards from rookie Leonard Fournette, who also has three touchdowns. Blake Bortles has thrown for 592 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions.

Bet on Jaguars vs. Jets

Is Jacksonville going to actually be a contender in the AFC South this season? If so it has to win this game on the road. The Jags aren’t accustomed to being a road favorite, but this defense looks legit. Jacksonville has covered in four straight on the road and five of its last six conference games. The Jets are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 after a win and they have a lot of questions on offense as it faces this impressive defensive unit. I like the Jags to cover today.
