Carolina Panthers Betting Trends

The Panthers are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six road games, are 4-1 against the number in their last five games coming off an ATS loss, and are 8-3 at the betting window in their last 11 games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game. That said, they’re just 2-8-1 against the spread in their last 11 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

New England Patriots Betting Trends

The Patriots are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games coming off a win, are 13-5-2 against the spread in their last 20 home games, and are 20-8 against the spread in their last 28 games. They’re also 33-16-2 against the spread in their last 51 games following an ATS loss.

OUR PREDICTION: Cam Newton and Co. have not been sharp offensively in the early going but today might be the perfect time to get back on course. That’s because the Patriots are vulnerable defensively. They have no pass rush at times, they’ve had major issues setting the edge when trying to defend the run. Christian McCaffrey and Jonathan Stewart need to have big days in order to control clock and limit the possessions that Tom Brady has against a solid Carolina defense. Public bettors will be fading them today, but I see value in a Panthers team that should play with some urgency today in New England. Plus, the bottom line is I don’t trust the Patriots defense to come up with a big stop when it needs to, which makes it difficult to lay nine points.
