Titans vs. Dolphins Prediction
Can the Miami Dolphins find a way to stop the Tennessee Titans when they meet up today at 1PM ET in Miami?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Dolphins are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Titans. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 43.5 points. Miami has won four of the last six against the Titans and the Dolphins are 3-1 against the spread in the last four meetings.
The Titans are coming off a 27-20 loss at Houston last week to fall to 1-3 on the season and 1-3 against the spread. The Titans are really struggling on offense right now, as the unit is averaging just 15.5 points and 358.3 yards per game. Marcus Mariota has thrown for 925 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions and he is struggling in his sophomore season. He also has been sacked seven times. That may be an issue again this week as first-round draft pick Jack Conklin is listed as questionable to play with a shoulder injury. That could also impact DeMarco Murray, who has been the offensive leader with 340 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Tennessee is doing pretty well, allowing just 21 points and 359.8 yards per game. The unit has tallied six sacks and four interceptions this season.
Miami fell to 1-3 on the season last week with a 22-7 loss at Cincinnati. The Dolphins are also 1-3 against the spread. Like the Titans, the Dolphins are having trouble offensively. They are averaging just 17.8 points and 348 yards per game. The run game has been the biggest issue, posting just 77.8 yards per game on the ground. That could improve if Arian Foster returns from a groin injury, but he is listed as doubtful to play. Ryan Tannehill has thrown for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns, but also has five interceptions. Unlike the Titans, the Dolphins are struggling on defense, giving up 419 yards per game, including nearly 300 passing yards per game. They are creating pressure, racking up 10 sacks, but giving up yards in chunks.

While Miami struggles to stop the pass, that doesn’t really play into Tennessee’s strengths. The Titans would prefer to run the ball with Murray, but Miami should be able to limit him with their big defensive front. Miami can also create pressure despite struggling against the pass. Mariota has been making poor decisions this year and is likely to make more under pressure. That should help the Dolphins get a short field for their offense and pick up a needed win.
