NFL Week 8 Injury Report
As always, there are some key players listed on the Injury Report for Week 8 of the NFL season. Here is a look at the biggest injuries for Sunday.
One of the biggest injuries this weekend is to Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston, who is dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered two weeks ago and re-aggravated last weekend. Winston is listed as questionable for today’s 1PM ET game against the Carolina Panthers, but is expected to play. The oddsmakers have listed the Bucs as a 1.5-point favorite at home against the Panthers. Winston has thrown for 1,643 yards and 10 touchdowns this season with four interceptions. If he would be unable to play, Ryan Fitzpatrick would get the call.
The Los Angeles Chargers could be without their top weapon on offense today when they travel to face the New England Patriots at 1PM ET, as Melvin Gordon is dealing with a foot injury. Gordon is listed as questionable, but many expect him to start today. The Chargers are a 7-point underdog on the road against the Patriots and not having Gordon would certainly make those odds even worse. Gordon has 394 rushing yards and three touchdowns while also catching 29 passes for 229 yards and four scores this year.
Another key injury comes with the Detroit Lions, who could be without their top receiver in Golden Tate as they get set to host the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight at 8:30PM ET. Oddsmakers have the Lions as a 3-point home underdog against the Steelers. Tate is listed as questionable for today’s game after spraining his AC joint in a Week-6 loss to the Saints. The normal timetable for recovery is 3-4 weeks, but Tate has stressed that he will play tonight. He is Detroit’s leading receiver with 36 receptions for 363 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions will already be without rookie receiver Kenny Golladay due to a hamstring injury.
