NFL Week 8 Survivor Pool Picks
Congratulations on making it this far in your NFL survivor pool. Need help making a pick in Week 8? Here are three teams to consider.
How we did last week: Fortunately, if you went with any of our three choices last week you would have advanced. Our top pick was the Saints, who struggled early against the Packers but pulled away for what wound up being a SU and ATS win.
Our second choice was the Titans, who you had to sweat until the bitter end as they barely beat the Browns 12-9 in a field-goal fest. Our last option was the Vikings, who went toe-to-toe with the Ravens for nearly three quarters before pulling away.
Here are our NFL survivor pool picks for Week 8:
1. Philadelphia Eagles
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles are a 13-point home favorite this Sunday when they face the 49ers. Philadelphia is the biggest favorite on the board in Week 8 and even though the Eagles are coming off a win on Monday night and thus are playing on a short week, they should edge the winless 49ers. The Eagles have won five straight games but only started getting recognition nationally as one of the top teams in the NFL, so hopefully you didn’t burn them already. If you did, then our next choice in Week 8 would be…
2. Cincinnati Bengals
The only way you would have used the Bengals would have been in Week 4 when they visited the Browns. I don’t like to use road teams in survivor pools and if you’re like me, then Cincinnati is still an option for you in Week 8. They are coming off a loss to the Steelers last week, but that was on the road against a Pittsburgh team that is starting to get hot. The Bengals are playing much better offensively since making a change at offensive coordinator following their 0-2 start and they shouldn’t get much resistance from a Colts defense that ranks 31st in total yards allowed, 31st in passing yards allowed, 26th in rushing yards allowed and dead last in points allowed per game (31.7). Again though, if you already used the Eagles and Bengals, our final choice for Week 8 would be…
3. Kansas City Chiefs (assuming you already used the Saints)
The Saints would actually be our third-favorite this week but we recommended them as our top option last week so if you followed that advice, we want to provide a different option. (Same thing for the Vikings, who are a public favorite this week when they travel to Cleveland to take on the hapless Browns.) The Chiefs host a Broncos team on Monday night that was just shutout in Los Angeles by the Chargers. After a three-week stretch in which he played very well, Trevor Siemian has reverted back to being a pumpkin so Kansas City’s beleaguered defense shouldn’t have much of an issue keeping Denver out of the end zone on Monday. Plus, Alex Smith is playing like a MVP candidate right now so the Chiefs should be able to move the ball somewhat against the Broncos’ stout defense.
