NFL Week 9 Betting Odds Report
Week 8 is not officially in the books yet as the Patriots will visit the Bills on Monday Night Football later this evening. That said, with most of the betting odds available for Week 9, let’s look ahead to some of the key matchups.
On Thursday night a pair of struggling teams from the Bay Area will meet in Santa Clara when the 49ers host the Raiders at 8:20 p.m. ET. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the 49ers are 3-point favorites to beat the visiting Raiders. The total, meanwhile, sits at 47 points and as of this writing, 56% of the public betting tickets are on the Raiders to cover the point spread. In fact, Oakland opened as a 4-point favorite but the line was bet down a full point to the key number of 3.
Moving to Sunday, the Panthers are laying 6.5 points to the visiting Buccaneers, who could turn back to Ryan Fitzpatrick after he nearly led them to a come-from-behind victory Sunday in Cincinnati. At this point, Carolina is receiving 77% of the betting tickets.
Also on Sunday, the Chiefs opened as 10.5-point road favorites to beat the Browns but the line was bet down to 8 at most books. The Falcons were also catching 3 points on the road against the Redskins but that line was already bet down to 1.5 with 72% of the betting tickets on Atlanta. The Dolphins are also laying 3 points to AFC East rival the Jets, the Steelers are catching 3 points in a rivalry game against the Ravens and the Vikings are now -5 after opening as a 7-point favorite versus visiting Detroit.
In the late action, the suddenly resurgent Seahawks are 1.5-point home favorites to beat the Chargers, the equally resurgent Texans are catching 2.5 points as a road dog in Denver and for the biggest game of the afternoon slate, the Rams and Saints are a pick’em in New Orleans. That game has already seen a split at the betting window, as 62% of the betting tickets are on the Saints but 62% of the money wagered is on the Rams.
The Sunday Night Football matchup is a good one again, as the Patriots will host the Packers at 8:20 p.m. ET. That game is a picke’m but one would have to believe that the Patriots will be favored closer to kickoff.
On Monday night, the Cowboys are laying 7 points to the visiting Titans, who had their bye a week ago.
