NFL Week 9 Predictions: New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins 11/6/16

Jets vs. Dolphins Prediction

Will Ryan Fitzpatrick lead the Jets to an upset victory over the Dolphins when the AFC East rivals clash at 1:00PM ET today?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Dolphins are now 4-point home favorites versus the Jets after opening as a 3-point favorite. As for the total, the number opened at 44 but has been bet down to 43.5.

Not only are the Jets going for their third-straight victory, they’ve also won three straight versus the Dolphins overall and four consecutive games in Miami. That said, they’re just 2-3 on the road this season and have been as inconsistent as any team in the NFL. They do have a winning record at the window against AFC East competition, going 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 divisional games.

The Dolphins have been a solid team at home, winning three of the four games they’ve played in Miami (compared to 0-3 on the road). They’re also 3-0 when rushing for 100-plus yards this season and 0-4 when they fail to hit the century mark for rushing yards. Jay Ajayi is seeking his third consecutive 200-yard rushing game on Sunday, which is something no player has ever done in the history of the NFL.

OUR PREDICTION: The key to the Jets’ small turnaround is that Fitzpatrick isn’t turning the ball over. He hasn’t thrown a pick in his last two games, which spans 48 pass attempts. Slowing down a well-rested Ajayi will be a challenge but if Fitzpatrick continues to play mistake-free football, it’s not as if the Jets weren’t in games where he was throwing multiple interceptions. Given the Jets’ track record in Miami, they’re a good underdog play today. Plus, I just don’t trust the Dolphins.
