Raiders vs. Texans Playoff Pick

Will Saturday’s Wildcard matchup between the Texans and Raiders fall under the betting total at 4:35PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Texans are now a 4-point home favorite versus the Raiders after opening as a 3-point favorite earlier in the week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 37.5 and has been bet down to 36.5 at the majority of sports books.

On Wednesday coach Jack Del Rio confirmed that rookie Connor Cook will start at quarterback for the Raiders on Saturday. Derek Carr’s backup Matt McGloin injured his shoulder in the first half of last week’s loss to the Broncos and won’t be ready to start on a short week. Cook completed 14-of-21 passes for 150 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Saturday won’t just be Cook’s first playoff start, it’ll be his first start in the NFL, period.

In Houston, Brock Osweiler will start against the Raiders with Tom Savage still in the concussion protocol. Osweiler has been a massive bust for the Texans, completing just 59.0 percent of his passes, with 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Savage likely would have started if he were healthy.

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 5-1 in the Raiders’ last six games in January, is 7-3-1 in their last 11 games following an ATS loss and are 5-2-2 in their last nine games coming off a straight up loss. The under is also 5-1 in the Texans’ last six games overall, is 4-1 in their last five conference games and has cashed in nine of their last 12 home games. Seeing as how poorly the quarterback position is on both sides, this game should fell well under the betting total on Saturday. It’s possible neither team reach the 20s.
