Panthers vs. Jets NFL Week 12 Predictions Against the Spread 11/26/17

Panthers vs. Jets Prediction

Will the New York Jets keep the score within a touchdown on Sunday when they host the Carolina Panthers at 1:00 p.m. ET as a home underdog?

Who Oddsmakers Like: Panthers. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are 5.5-point road favorites to beat the Jets, who opened as 5-point home underdogs. As for the total, the number currently sits at 40 points after hitting the board at 39.5.

Who the Public Likes: Carolina. As of Sunday morning, just over 65% of betting tickets were on the Panthers to cover the point spread.

Who the Trends Like: The home team and the favorite, which unfortunately lead to conflicting trends. In the last six meetings between these two teams, the home team is 5-0-1 against the spread. The favorite, meanwhile, is 3-1-1 against the spread in the last five meetings.

Who We Like: New York. The Panthers are receiving plenty of backing from public bettors because they are the better team, but the Jets have been competitive all season. They’ve also been a great play at the betting window, covering in all six of their last six home games. They’re also 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall and are 7-0 at the betting window in their last seven home games versus a team with a winning road record.

The Panthers are rolling at the moment but if you take a deeper dive into their last three games, there are some troubling trends. They’ve actually been out-gained in two of their last three games, both of which were wins. They were out-gained by the Falcons three weeks ago and were out-gained in their 17-3 win over the Bucs in Tampa at the end of October.

That’s not to take anything away from the Panthers, who have played great defense all season long. They just haven’t been as dominant as public perception will have led you to believe.
