Patriots could hang on to Garoppolo
Even though it has been speculated that the Patriots will trade Jimmy Garoppolo at some point this offseason, at least one report disputes that claim.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Patriots are not expected to trade Garoppolo, their backup to 39-year-old Tom Brady. This report comes after Ed Werder reported the same thing a couple of weeks ago. The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe insists, however, that a Garoppolo trade is “still in play.”

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Patriots remain 11/2 favorites two win the 2018 Super Bowl. The Cowboys have the next-best odds at 11/1, while the Falcons, Packers and Seahawks are all 12/1, respectively. The Patriots are also favored to win the AFC Championship at 3/1, while the Steelers are 13/2 and the Broncos are 15/2.
One would think that if the Patriots were bowled over by a trade proposal for Garoppolo that they would take the deal. The offer might have to include multiple draft picks to sway Bill Belichick and the Patriots, but with Brady still playing at an elite level there’s no sense in keeping Garoppolo if he could fetch New England a haul this offseason.
