Evans to score for TB?
Mike Evans hasn’t been finding the end zone much in 2015, but will that change today when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the New Orleans Saints?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, the Buccaneers are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -4 points against the Saints. The over/under total for the game has been set at 50.5 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET on FOX.
Just a second-year player, Evans has already established himself as the go-to receiver for the Bucs (6-6, 7-5 ATS). Last season Evans had 1,051 receiving yards on 68 catches. This season, he has 850 yards on 54 catches. However, the big difference this season is he has just three touchdown catches. Last season, Evans was in the end zone 12 times. While the number is low, Evans has scored in two of his last three games and seems primed to do it again today against the Saints (4-8, 5-6-1 ATS). Oddsmakers have listed Evans’ odds to score today at -140, while his odds to score the first TD is set at +750
New Orleans ranks 31st in the NFL in passing defense, allowing 287.3 yards per game. They also have allowed a league-worst 20 touchdown receptions to opposing receivers. Just last week, New Orleans gave up four TDs to Carolina receivers. Evans wasn’t part of the first meeting with New Orleans this year, as he dealt with an injury, but you can bet that Jameis Winston will be looking his way in today’s game, especially in the red zone. Of the team’s 26 touchdowns on offense this season, only four have come from a running back on the ground. Tampa likes to give Winston the option near the goal line, which should mean good things for Evans today.
