Saints vs. Rams Prediction
The red-hot New Orleans Saints travel to L.A. on Sunday to take on a Rams team that just suffered its third loss of the season. Will New Orleans pull off the small upset?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Los Angeles. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rams are 2.5-point home favorites versus the Saints, who opened as 2.5-point road underdogs for this matchup. The total, meanwhile, currently sits at 54 points after hitting the board at 53.5.
Who Public Bettors Like: As of this writing, the Saints are receiving 53% of the betting tickets ahead of today’s game.
Who the Historical Trends Like: Los Angeles and the over. The home team is 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams. The Saints are also just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Rams and are winless at 0-4 against the number in their last four games in Los Angeles. The over, meanwhile, is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Los Angeles and has cashed in eight of the last 11 meetings.
Who We Like: The Saints are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games coming off a win, are 6-0 against the number in their last six games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game, and are 12-2 at the betting window in their last 14 road games versus a team with a winning home record.
The Rams, meanwhile, are just 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 home games, are 3-11-1 against the number in their last 15 conference games, and are 3-9-1 at the betting window in their last 13 games coming off a failed cover.
The Saints didn’t cover last week but they won in unbelievable fashion and I love that they’re a dog today against a Rams team that won’t have Robert Woods. (Granted, the Saints are banged-up in their secondary but I still think they get after Jared Goff and win outright.)
