Seahawks vs. 49ers Prediction
Are the Seattle Seahawks a good bet to cover the point spread as a road favorite today when they visit their NFC West rivals the San Francisco 49ers at 4:05 p.m. ET?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Seattle. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are 6.5-point road favorites to knock off the host 49ers, who also opened as 6.5-point home underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 42 but has jumped a full three points to 45.
Who Public Bettors Like: As of this writing, 70% of betting tickets are on the Seahawks to cover the point spread.
Who the Historical Trends Like: Seattle and the under. The Seahawks are 9-2-1 at the betting window in their last 12 games versus the 49ers and have covered in four of their last five trips to San Francisco. The under has also cashed in seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings in San Francisco.
Who We Like: San Francisco. The Seahawks are just 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games, are 1-3-1 against the number in their last five divisional games, and are 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games overall.
The 49ers, meanwhile, have been a great bet inside the division. They’re 6-1 against the spread in their last seven NFC West games and are 4-0 against the number in tiher last four games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
Kyle Shanahan is familiar with the Seahawks defense after working in Atlanta the past two years. He faced Seattle twice as a play-caller last year and once already this season, when the Seahawks squeaked by the Niners 12-9 in Seattle. Without Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, this is a much different Seattle defense and after the Seahawks played a physical game on Monday night, I like the Niners to cash today.
