Which player will score the first touchdown in tonight’s Super Bowl when the Patriots and Falcons kick-off from Houston at 6:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones and New England running back LeGarrette Blount are co-favorites to score the first touchdown tonight at 7/1 odds. Falcons running back Devonta Freeman is also 8/1 to score first, while Patriots wideout Julian Edelman is 9/1.

Continuing with the odds, Chris Hogan of the Patriots and Mohamed Sanu of the Falcons are both 10/1 to score the first touchdown of Super Bowl 51. Tight end Martellus Bennett and running back Dion Lewis are both 12/1, while Tevin Coleman and teammate Taylor Gabriel are 14/1. Some of the mid-range long shots include James White, Malcolm Mitchell, Danny Amendola and Tom Brady, who are all 22/1, respectively.
To round up the odds, Austin Hooper is 28/1 to score the first touchdown tonight, while Matt Ryan is 33/1 and Levine Toilolo is 40/1. Justin Hardy is also 50/1, while Joshua Perkins is 66/ and Eric Weems is 100/1. The odds that no touchdown is scored are 200/1, while the field has odds of 11/2.

So which player will score the first touchdown of Super Bowl 51? Here are three options where we see value in the odds.
LeGarrette Blount 7/1
No player in the NFL scored more rushing touchdowns during the regular season than Blount, who found paydirt 18 times on the ground this year. Thus, if the Patriots get near the goal line on their opening offensive possession, there’s a good chance that Blount will have the first opportunity to bulldoze his way into the end zone. At 7/1, Blount offers tremendous value for bettors that are looking to wager on this prop.
Tom Brady 22/1
You wouldn’t generally think that a quarterback would have the opportunity to score a touchdown but Brady is so good at quarterback sneaks that he too offers great value at 22/1. If the Patriots get forced back a few times at the goal line, there’s a chance Brady will be asked to burrow his way into the end zone via a sneak. At 22/1, he’s worth the risk.
Devonta Freeman 8/1
Even though he shares the backfield with Tevin Coleman, Freeman remains the Falcons’ No. 1 back. Coleman does see plenty of goal line opportunities in Atlanta’s explosive offense, but chances are Freeman will have the first crack at a touchdown if the Falcons are near the goal line in the first quarter. Freeman is also a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield, so he could always take a screen pass to the house if the Falcons get close enough.
