Are Cowboys looking for Romo’s backup?
The Dallas Cowboys weren’t much of anything when Tony Romo wasn’t on the field in 2016. Does this mean they will address their backup QB situation in the NFL Draft?
The veteran QB of the Cowboys is set to enter his 14th season in the league, but coming off a 2015 where he appeared in just 4 games due to fracturing his clavicle on two separate occasions. The injuries have many wondering just how strong his shoulder and arm will be going into the 2016 season and whether or not the Cowboys should use their No. 4 overall pick to take Romo’s eventual replacement. ESPN Staff Writer Jean-Jacques Taylor gave his input on the matter in a recent column:
“If there’s a quarterback worthy of the fourth pick, then the Cowboys should certainly take him. If not, then they must pass. One of the easiest ways to wreck a franchise is to reach for a quarterback in the first round.”

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Cowboys are currently listed with 20/1 odds to win Super Bowl LI next season. They also have 11/1 odds to win the NFC Championship while their over/under total for wins is currently at 9.
Romo finished with 884 yards and five touchdowns in his four games last season and now has 34,154 yards with 347 touchdowns for the Cowboys in his career. With Romo out, the Cowboys were just 4-12 last season, a far cry from its 12-4 record in 2014 that saw them win the NFC East and reach the second round of the playoffs.
