Dolphins land big names
The Miami Dolphins are hoping to make a charge in the 2020 NFL season and that began by agreeing to terms with a few marquee free agents on Monday.
According to oddsmakers, the Dolphins are currently listed with 100/1 odds to win the Super Bowl next season. Kansas City is the favorite to repeat, as the Chiefs are listed with 6/1 odds while the 49ers have 8/1 odds and the Ravens are listed at 10/1.
The Dolphins got their day going by agreeing to a four-year, $51 million deal with former Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy. Miami then turned its attention to the secondary, where it reached a five-year, $82.5 million deal with Byron Jones, paying him $57 million guaranteed. That makes Jones the highest-paid corner in the NFL.
Van Noy reconnects with Flores, who he used to be coached by in New England. A 2014 second-round pick, Van Noy did little to nothing with Detroit over three years, but found his spot in New England. He had 56 tackles this past season with 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Van Noy had 15.5 sacks with the Patriots over the last three seasons.
Jones was a first-round pick in 2015 by the Dallas Cowboys. While his interceptions numbers aren’t staggering, at just two over five seasons, he has deflected a total of 43 passes while making 349 tackles with Dallas. Opposing quarterbacks only completed 53 percent of their passes against Jones last season.
