NFC Championship Game Spread Moves

The point spread in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles has moved off a key number.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Vikings are now a 3-point road favorite to beat the Eagles, who opened as a 3.5-point home underdog. That’s a significant move considering public bettors are split on the game. Philadelphia is receiving just 51% of the betting tickets as of this writing so this line movement would indicate sharp money coming in on the Eagles. Or else why would oddsmakers move the line?

The total has also moved off the original number. After hitting the board at 38, the over/under is now up to 38.5 after the majority of online and Vegas sports books. While not as significant, this line movement is also interesting. As of Wednesday morning, 56% of the betting tickets were on the over and 54% of the money is on the under.

Bet NFL Championship Sunday Games

A victory voer the Vikings would end a 41-season Super Bowl drought. They would also mark the first team to ever host a Super Bowl since the NFL championship will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota this year.

The Vikings surrendered the second fewest passing yards in the NFL this season thanks to a nasty defense. They allowed only 15.8 points per game, which was the lowest average in the league. The Vikings are also outstanding generating stops on third down defensively as cornerback Xavier Rhodes and safety Harrison Smith rank among the best at their respective positions.

That said, Sunday will be a challenge for the visiting Vikings, as the Eagles are 8-1 straight up and 6-3 against the spread at Lincoln Financial Field this season. If you throw out a meaningless Week 17 game against the Cowboys in which Philly rested most of its starters, then the Eagles are a perfect 8-0 straight up and an impressive 6-2 against the spread at home this season.
