NFL Week 11 Survivor Pool Picks

If you’re still alive in your NFL survivor pool and need some help making your choice for Week 11, here are three options to consider this weekend.

How we did last week: We did well again last week and have been on a nice little run of late. Our top option was the Rams, who routed the Texans 33-7 after a slow start on Sunday in L.A. Our second option, the Lions, surely gave bettors a scare when they struggled for two-and-half quarters against the Browns. But Detroit got it done and even covered the spread in the process. Our third option was the Panthers, who steam-rolled Miami on Monday night football, giving us a perfect 3-0 week.

Since it’s late in the year, we’ll try to give you a wide range of options in case you’ve already used certain teams. There’s obviously no guarantee that you haven’t used these options but we’ll try our best to mix it up.

Option 1: Kansas City Chiefs

If you’ve been saving the Chiefs because you weren’t sure that their hot start would last and you’ve been waiting out their recent downturn, now is the time to use them. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Kansas City is a massive 10.5-point road favorite this Sunday against the Giants, who have all but given up on their season. They just lost to the winless 49ers last Sunday and their defense wants nothing to do with stopping any opponent at the moment. The Chiefs are also fresh off their bye, where Andy Reid’s teams always thrive. Hopefully you haven’t burned Kansas City because this is as close to a lock as it comes in the NFL.

Option 2: Jacksonville Jaguars

We hesitate to list road teams but we’re getting down to the bottom of the barrel so we have no choice. This one is obvious: Cleveland is 0-9 on the year and while the Browns were competitive last week in Detroit, they didn’t even cover as an 11-point underdog. DeShone Kizer looked better, but he still makes way too many mistakes that cost the Browns games. Meanwhile, the Jaguars finally overcome some adversity in their come-from-behind win over the Chargers last week at home. They looked dead to rights in the fourth quarter but found a way to win despite drawing some stupid personal foul penalties. They should be a good bet to beat the Browns on Sunday in Cleveland and will no doubt be a massive public favorite.

Option 3: Los Angeles Chargers

Chances are you didn’t burn the Chargers yet and if that’s the case, get ready to roll the dice on a 3-6 team. Before we continue, this pick is predicated on Philip Rivers playing. He’s in the concussion protocol this week and if he doesn’t play, then you’ll need to look for other options. Assuming Rivers suits up, then the Bolts should be a safe option despite their record. That’s because the Bills are currently a mess. They dropped to 5-4 on the year with their no-show effort against the Saints last week at home and have now been out-gained in all five of their last five games. Mike Rodak of ESPN notes that the Bills defense has allowed 28.4 points per game since Week 5, ranks 30th in yards allowed (403.0) during that span, and has been gashed for 6.07 yards per play. The Chargers remain competitive despite their record (which is more than we can say about the aforementioned Giants) and should handle a team making a cross-country trip this week.
