Week 15 NFL Survivor Pool Picks
With just three weeks to go in the regular season, here are three options if you need help with your NFL Survivor Pool Picks for Week 15.
How we did last week: If you’re a regular reader of The Spread, you know we’ve had several weeks where we had all three of our options win. We don’t just hand out the biggest favorites either, as we know that each week you have to cross off teams the deeper you get into the year.
Having said that, we handed out bad advice last week. Our first choice was the Cincinnati Bengals, who lost outright as a six-point favorite versus the Bears on Sunday. Our second choice, the Chargers, won easily against the Redskins, but our third choice, the Jets, also lost as a road favorite versus the Broncos. We’ll try to do better this week.
Option 1: Detroit Lions
I’m going back to the well that I fell into last week. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Lions are 5.5-point home favorites versus the Bears, who opened as a 6-point underdog. Chicago beat our top choice a week ago but the Bears are going back on the road and this time, the game means something to its opponent. At 7-6, Detroit is still in the wild card mix and need to run the table and get some help to make the postseason. With the Bears traveling for the second straight week, I like the Lions to avoid the upset.
Option 2: Jacksonville Jaguars
You may have used the Jags at some point this season but if you haven’t, now is the time to burn them. For starters, they’re the biggest favorites on the board so they’re a safe choice. Secondly, they’re 11.5-point home favorites versus a Texans team that is now down to its third-string quarterback in T.J. Yates. Jacksonville’s defense is going to tear Yates apart on Sunday.
Option 3: Atlanta Falcons
There will be a lot of people that have already used the Falcons but here’s my reasons for listing them now. One, they’re playing a banged-up Tampa Bay team with nothing to play for next Monday. The Falcons have struggled in Tampa over the years but they can still win the NFC South if they win out so they should be a safe play. The main reason why I list them though, is that chances are if you used Atlanta earlier this year, you’re done. You would have used the Falcons as a home favorite against the Bills or Dolphins earlier in the year and since they lost both games, you’re not reading this if you used the Falcons then. So, if you’ve avoided Atlanta, burn the Falcons on Monday night. (Atlanta is also receiving 69% of the bets.)
