Sanders the key for DEN?
With a lot at stake for the Denver Broncos today against the San Diego Chargers, will Denver turn to Emmanuel Sanders often?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Denver is the clear favorite in this game, as the Broncos are getting odds of -10 points against the Chargers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 42 points. These two meet today at 4:25PM ET on CBS.
The Broncos (11-4, 8-7 ATS) have locked up a playoff spot, but they can win the division with a win today and possibly even earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a win and a Patriots loss. Against a team like the Chargers (4-11, 7-8), who have a solid offense despite struggling to win games, Denver may look to play possession control on offense, which could mean a good day for Sanders.
Sanders isn’t going to match the breakout numbers he had a year ago, but he is still having a solid 2015 season with 71 receptions for 1,036 yards and six touchdowns. The sixth-year NFL veteran has been given an over/under of 4.5 receptions and 69.5 receiving yards for today’s game against the Chargers. When these two met back on Dec. 6, Sanders had just 3 receptions for 19 yards. It was just one of three games where Sanders was held below 20 yards. San Diego does have the NFL’s 10th-ranked pass defense, giving up just 232.9 yards per game. Sanders has had seven games with at least 70 yards and seven with at least 5 receptions. He has had 14 catches for 248 yards with two touchdowns over the last two games, so he is developing good chemistry with Brock Osweiler.
