Gabbert to stun the Bengals?
The Cincinnati Bengals will be using a new QB today when they face the San Francisco 49ers, but could that mean bettering things for San Fran QB Blaine Gabbert?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Cincinnati is favored on the road in this game, as the Bengals are getting odds of -5.5 points against the 49ers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 40.5 points. These two meet today at 4:25PM ET and the game airs live on CBS.
The 49ers (4-9, 6-7 ATS) are the underdog for a reason, but with injuries to key Cincinnati players Andy Dalton and Tyler Eifert, the Bengals (10-3, 10-2-1 ATS) could find themselves struggling on offense, which opens the door for more opportunities for the San Francisco offense. Gabbert hasn’t performed too bad for San Francisco in his five starts. He has thrown for 1,157 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions while completing 63.2 percent of his passes.
Oddsmakers haven’t put up a big number for Gabbert today, as his over/under for passing yards is at just 219.5. However, that’s a number he can hit. Cincinnati is just 16th in the NFL in passing defense, allowing 242.6 yards per game. Gabbert threw for 318 yards in his last home game, which was against Arizona, and the Bengals’ defense could be on the field more than it is used to with A.J. McCarron leading the offense today. Gabbert will need to convert some third-down passes to sustain drives, but with a 60 percent completion rate or better in four of his five starts, don’t be surprised to see Gabbert get to 220 yards.
