Saints vs. Chiefs Pick

Will the combined score fall under the total on Sunday afternoon when the Chiefs host the Saints at 1:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Chiefs are 6.5-point home favorite versus the Saints after opening as a 7-point favorite when the lines were released late Sunday night. As for the total, the number opened at 50 and that’s where it currently sits as of this writing.

The Saints pulled off the upset as a 2.5-point home underdog versus the Panthers last Sunday, beating Carolina, 41-38. Drew Brees completed 34-of-49 passes for 465 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in the win, while Brandin Cooks went off for 173 yards receiving and a touchdown on seven catches. The win gave New Orleans two on the year and now the Saints are 2-3 straight up and 3-2 against the spread.

The Chiefs are also coming off a win, a 26-10 beating over the Chargers as a 1-point road favorite last weekend. Kansas City is now 3-2 straight up but just 2-3 against the spread despite covering last Sunday. Alex Smith was 19-of-22 for 224 yards in the win, while Spencer Ware rushed 24 times for 131 yards and a touchdown.

OUR PREDICTION: The Saints have an explosive offense and a horrendous defense so the over is usually the smart play in their games. That said, the under has cashed in four of their last five road games as Sean Payton’s offense is often less potent away from the Superdome in New Orleans. The under is also 4-1 in the Chiefs’ last five home games, is 4-0 in their last four games in Week 7, and is 4-1 in their last five games in October.
