Is Brady in trouble?
The New England Patriots are in a rare losing streak and Tom Brady has lost some of his top weapons. Can he lead the Pats past the Houston Texans on Sunday night?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, New England is the favorite on the road, as the Patriots are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Texans. The over/under total for the game has been set at 44.5 points. These two meet up in NBC Sunday Night Football tonight at 8:30PM ET.
The Patriots (10-2, 5-5-2 ATS) started the season 10-0 but have since lost two straight, including a 35-28 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles last week at home. Brady has lost Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola at different points of the season. Gronk and Edelman are expected out for this game as well. Despite the loss of his targets, Brady has still had good yardage totals. He has thrown for 592 yards and 6 touchdowns the last two weeks. However, he has two interceptions and has completed under 55 percent of his passes.
Tonight the Pats meet the Texans (6-6, 6-6 ATS) who saw a four-game win streak snapped last week at Buffalo. Houston comes into this game with the third-ranked passing defense in the NFL, allowing just 218.2 yards per game in the air. The Texans have given up 20 passing touchdowns this season, but bring a great pass rush led by J.J. Watt, who leads the NFL in sacks with 13.5. That could spell struggles for Brady. However, oddsmakers expect another big game, as his over/under for yards has been set at 290.5 and his over/under for TD passes is listed at 2. Brady has thrown for at least 291 yards in eight games this season and has at least two TD passes in all but one game this year. Houston hasn’t allowed a 290-yard passed in five straight games, giving up just four touchdown passes in that span.
