St. Louis Blues Fantasy Spin
Jordan Binnington allowed three goals on 31 shots in Friday’s 4-2 road loss against the New Jersey Devils. The game was tied 1-1 heading into the second period before two New Jersey players, Dakota Mermis and Connor Carrick, each netted their first goals of the season. Carrick’s goal stood up as the game-winning tally, as the Blues were unable to level the game. It’s a disappointing result for the Blues and Binnington’s fantasy owners, as this appeared to be a slam-dunk win against an inferior opponent.
Chicago Blackhawks Fantasy Spin
Corey Crawford allowed two goals on 25 shots in Friday’s 2-1 road loss against the Detroit Red Wings. All of the damage occurred in the second when Tyler Bertuzzi broke through for his 19th goal of the season just 20 seconds into the period, and then Robby Fabbri struck for what stood up as the game-winning tally at 10:05 of the second period on the power play. Crawford was making his ninth consecutive start, and he has won four in a row before this hard-luck loss. Perhaps we’ll see Malcolm Subban make his Chicago debut on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues on NBCSN.
