Bruins fall in OT
Boston lost Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals Wednesday night by a score of 3-2 at home in overtime against St. Louis. The Bruins opened the scoring at the 15:16 mark of the first period on a Charlie Coyle power play goal off assists from Jake DeBrusk and David Pastrnak. The Blues tied it up five minutes later, but Boston again took the lead at the 9:43 mark of the first as Joakim Nordstrom goal on an assist by Sean Kuraly. After St. Louis evened the score again later in the first period, neither team found the back of the net again until the Blues won it in overtime. Tuukka Rask registered 34 saves on 37 shots in the defeat.
Gunnarsson provides game-winner
Carl Gunnarsson scored his first goal in 21 playoff games Wednesday night in overtime to lift St. Louis to a 3-2 victory at Boston in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. It was assisted by Ryan O’Reilly and Oskar Sundqvist. After Boston took a 1-0 advantage in the first period, the Blues tied it at 1-1 at the 10:23 mark on a Robert Bartuzzo goal assisted by Tyler Bozak and Gunnarsson. The Bruins again took the lead 44 seconds later before St. Louis tied it at 2-2 with 5:05 left in the third period as Vladimir Tarasenko scored off an assist by Jaden Schwartz. Jordan Binnington recorded 21 saves on 23 shots to pick up the win.
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The Bruins are 4-0 in their last four road games. Boston is 5-1 in its last six games as an underdog.
St. Louis
The Blues are 11-4 in their last 15 Saturday games. St. Louis is 19-7 in its last 26 home games.
Prediction:
St. Louis was a lot more organized offensively in Game 2 and outshot Boston by a wide margin. Binnington is proving up to the challenge all postseason and with St. Louis’ fans ready to witness its first home Stanley Cup Finals game since 1970, I like the hosts’ chances to notch another victory as the very slight favorites.
