Boston forced a Game 6 by picking up a 3-2 2OT win at Ottawa. That win snapped a three-game losing streak in the series for the Bruins. Boston comes into today’s game 46-32-9 overall and 23-18-2 at home while Ottawa is 47-29-11 overall and 24-17-2 on the road.
The Bruins came back from a 2-0 deficit to take Game 5 in OT. Mark Stone scored in the first period for Ottawa and then Jean Gabriel-Pageau scored 30 seconds into the second period. Boston was able to tie things up in the second with goals from David Pastrnak and Sean Kuraly. After a scoreless third and first OT session, Kuraly ended the game in the second overtime with his second goal. Boston won the faceoff battle 55-47 and had a 56-39 edge in hits in the win while Ottawa had a 43-39 advantage in shots on goal.
Boston should be riding a lot of momentum into today’s game following that comeback win in Game 5. The Bruins haven’t had a lot of great history against the Senators, but I think this win will spark them today. Boston is a good home team for the most part and Tukka Rask has had just a 2.07 GAA at home this season. Look for him to lead the Bruins to a big win this afternoon.
