LINE MOVEMENT

Carolina opened as a -130 favorite to win before the line moved up, while the total has remained at 6 goals since it opened. The line is right around -135 at any book you look at, while the total is 6 everywhere since some books having extra juice on the under.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of Friday afternoon, 51 percent of public bets are coming in on the Devils. Online wager info also states that 69 percent of bets are pouring in on the under.

INJURY TO WATCH

New Jersey left winger Brian Gibbons is out until mid-March with a thumb injury. Fellow left winger Marcus Johansson is out indefinitely with a brain injury. For the Hurricanes, left winger Joakim Nordstrom is questionable with an upper body injury.

BETTING STRATEGY

The Devils have won both meetings this season, prevailing 5-2 on their home ice Feb. 15 and 3-2 in overtime at Carolina three days later. New Jersey has won six of the last 10 meetings, while the under has gone 5-1-4 over that stretch. The Devils had a modest two-game win streak snapped with a 3-2 loss at Florida their last game, while Carolina snapped its six-game losing skid with a 4-1 victory at the Flyers. I’m going to go with New Jersey here. They’ve had the Hurricanes’ number and I expect that to continue as the visitors have been playing the better hockey of late.
