The Blues took a 2-0 lead in the series after picking up another 2-1 win in Game 2. The Blues have won both games in this series 2-1 and have won three straight meetings with the Wild by the same score. St. Louis is now 48-29-7 overall and 24-12-5 at home while the Wild are 49-26-9 overall and 22-13-6 on the road.
In Friday’s game 2, the Wild had the statistical advantage in most categories. Minnesota had a 24-22 edge in shots, a 38-21 edge in hits and a 44-26 edge in faceoffs. Still, St. Louis came away with the victory. Jaden Schwartz got the game-winning goal in the third period with just 2:27 left on the clock. Joel Edmundson had his second goal of the series in the second period while Zach Parise also scored his second goal of the series in the loss.
Minnesota is eventually going to be rewarded in this series by playing better hockey. The Wild could use a little boost from Devan Dubnyk in net, and that could come today. While the Blues should have a boost from playing at home with a 2-0 lead, the Wild have to be playing like their season is on the line today. I am going to go with the Wild again, as their stats should pay off with a win today.
