LINE MOVEMENT
Toronto opened as a -150 favorite before the line was bet up slightly, while the total has remained at 5.5 goals. At most sportsbooks, the line is between -150 and -160 but can be found all the way down at -125 if you shop. Dallas ranges from a +113 underdog at its worst price all the way to +140 at its best value.
PUBLIC BETTING
As of Wednesday afternoon, 72 percent of public bets are siding with the host Maple Leafs. Online wager info also says that 73 percent of bets are also coming in on the over.
INJURY TO WATCH
Defenseman Marc Methot (hand) and goalie Ben Bishop (knee) are questionable tonight, while center Martin Hanzal (back) is out for the season. For the Maple Leafs, defensemen Travis Dermott (flu) and Nikita Kaitsev (flu) are both questionable. Center Auston Matthews (shoulder) remains out.
BETTING STRATEGY
The under has hit in five of the last six meetings between these two teams including a 4-1 win by Toronto at Dallas in January. The Stars’ offense has struggled mightily as of late with two or fewer goals in five straight contests. But the Maple Leafs might be the right antidote as they tend to play high-scoring affairs and have hit the over in six of their last seven games including a 5-2 home win over the Penguins last game. Toronto is a lot fresher having three more days of rest coming in, so I’d advise against betting the Stars as an underdog. But both teams should be able to find the back of the net enough to take this total to the over.
