St. Louis is now 4-0-0 following a 3-2 shootout win at the Islanders Monday night. New York is now 1-2-0 after a 2-0 shutout win over the Canadiens Sunday night. The home team won both of last year’s two meetings, with the Blues winning 3-2 on their home ice and the Rangers prevailing 5-0. The over-under was 0-1-1.

In Monday’s win, Vladimir Tarasenko was the star as he scored both of St. Louis’ goals during regulation and then had a tally during the shootout. Paul Stastny, Jaden Schwartz and Alex Pietrangelo had assists on the two goals. Brayden Schenn had the other shootout goal. Jake Allen made 40 saves and did not allow a score during the shooting to earn the victory.

The Rangers received a 34-save shutout from Henrik Lundqvist in Sunday’s victory. Brady Skjei and Mika Zibanejad had the two goals. Pavel Buchnevich, Michael Grabner, Chris Kreider and J.T. Miller all had assists.

Bet on Blues vs. Rangers

Normally there wouldn’t be hesitation pulling the trigger on St. Louis since it’s red-hot to start the season, but with this being the first back-to-back to start its season there is much more hesitation. The Blues also barely snuck by the Islanders last night. Lundqvist was fantastic Sunday and should be back between the pipes. Although the Rangers are struggling to generate a lot of offense, they should get enough going to back Lundqvist to a victory.
