LINE MOVEMENT

Boston opened at the -200 favorite it is curently at, while the total has bumped up after opening at 5.5. The Bruins are anywhere from a -188 to a -200 fave at various sportsbooks, while Philadelphia ranges from a +160 to a +173 underdog.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of Thursday afternoon, 57 percent of public bets are coming in on the Bruins. Online wager info also says that 71 percent of bets are pouring in on the over.

INJURY TO WATCH

Philadelphia goaltender Brian Elliott is out until late March with an abdominal injury. Fellow goalie Michal Neuvirth is out until early April with a lower body injury. For Boston, right winger David Backes is suspended three games and will be out tonight. Center Patrice Bergeron is out until mid-March with a foot injury. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy is out until early April with a knee injury.

BETTING STRATEGY

Philadelphia is on a back-to-back after losing 5-2 at home to Pittsburgh last night, its fourth loss in a row. Boston defeated the Red Wings on its home ice by a count of 6-5 in overtime two days ago for a fourth consecutive win. I believe both teams are going to have extra focus on defense tonight after being beaten a combined 10 times for goals in their previous games. The Bruins are third in the NHL in goals allowed per game (2.5) and shut out the Flyers 3-0 in Philadelphia back in December. I think the under is a strong pick here, especially if you can get it at 6 goals.
