NHL Predictions: Will Golden Knights record upset at Wild? 2/2/18

Golden Knights vs. Wild Pick

Are the Las Vegas Golden Knights a good bet to pull off a road upset tonight at the Minnesota Wild? Game time is 8PM ET.

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Wild are a -150 favorite to win on the spread line. The Golden Knights are a +130 underdog, while the total is set at 5.5 goals. As of Friday afternoon, 55 percent of public bets have sided with the Wild.

Las Vegas comes in with a 34-12-2-2 record after a 3-2 overtime win Thursday at the Jets. Minnesota is 27-18-4-1 following a 3-2 shootout victory Tuesday at the Blue Jackets. The Wild won the first meeting this season on their home ice by a count of 4-2 on Nov. 30.

David Perron scored the game-winner in overtime for the Golden Knights in the triumph at Winnipeg. He also added an assist in the contest to lead the way. Erik Haula and Reilly Smith each scored a goal. Marc-Andre Fleury accounted for 26 saves on 28 shots to pick up the win. Las Vegas led 2-1 on Haula’s goal with 1:30 left in the second period, but allowed a goal in the third to force the OT.

Zach Perise clinched it with a score in the shootout to send Minnesota to the victory in Columbus. Chris Stewart also scored in the shootout, which was won 2-1. In regulation, Charlie Coyle and Jason Zucker accounted for the goals. Devan Dubnyk recorded 28 saves on 30 shots to notch the win. Coyle gave the Wild a 2-1 lead with 7:50 left, but the Blue Jackets even it shortly thereafter to force the eventual overtime session followed by the shootout.

The over is 5-1 in the last six Las Vegas games played on zero days of rest. The under is 4-0 in the last four Minnesota games versus the Pacific Division. The Wild are 5-0 in their last five home games against teams with a winning road record.

Bet on Golden Knights vs. Wild

This seems like too tall of a task for the impressive Golden Knights, one night after playing extra hockey in a thrilling win at the Jets. Backup goalie Malcolm Subban will probably be between the pipes and even though he has been solid this season, he hasn’t quite been the wall that Fleury often provides. Minnesota has had more rest and is in good form. Take the home team here.
