St. Louis Blues Fantasy Spin
Jake Allen allowed one goal on 20 shots in Thursday’s 2-0 loss to the Ottawa Senators. A tough night for the Blues who couldn’t generate much offense to support Allen with both Vladimir Tarasenko and David Perron who are out due to injury. Allen will see his record fall to 19-16-6 with a 2.85 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage.
Pittsburgh Penguins Fantasy Spin
Sidney Crosby had two assists Thursday in a 5-0 win over Buffalo. It has been a great season for the Pittsburgh captain who has 33 goals and 92 points this season in 68 games. He is a candidate for the Hart Trophy as the Penguins have struggled this season and would be no where without Crosby.
Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Blues are just 2-5 in their last seven games overall and just 2-5 in their last seven road games.
Pittsburgh
The Penguins have won five straight as a favorite and six of their last seven games overall.
Our Prediction
The Blues were essentially left for dead back in January but at the start of the new year, they turned their season around thanks in large part to a top line that featured Vladimir Tarsenko, Brayden Schenn and Ryan O’Reilly. That line helped the Blues win 11 straight games at one point but when Schenn suffered a concussion at the end of that streak, the Blues started to struggle. Tarasenko is the one out now, missing three straight games – all losses for the Note. St. Louis was shut out by lowly Ottawa 2-0 in its last game and has seen its offense completely vanish. This money line is not overly expensive for a Penguins team that is 7-1-2 over its last 10 games and I love them to get it done against the struggling Blues this afternoon in Pittsburgh.
